President's message

From the desk of the President of the Kent County Crime Watch of Delaware

To our valued members,

As we enter 2024, I would like to take this time to let you know what is happening with the Kent County Crime Watch. To begin with, on behalf of the KCCWDE officers, I would like to thank our members for the support you have given us during this past year. We cannot fulfill our mission without you. Secondly, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our law enforcement officers. Their dedication and sacrifice to the residents of this county will not go unnoticed.

2024 will be a very busy year for the organization. First, we will be conducting elections for the 2024 to 2026 term in June. After 6 years as president, I decided not to run for office. All the offices will be open for elections. I do not know if the current officers will continue to serve the organization, but the decision will be theirs.

However, to continue the business of this important organization, it is imperative that we have our members step up to serve in leadership roles and help bring in fresh ideas to grow and better serve our membership. Please…be the one.

Another prominent issue to address is the membership meeting attendance. We knew following the COVID shutdown that attendance would be slow to build back up to the prior levels. But we are 31-months post COVID, and our attendance continues to be low. We need your help in getting the word out to get existing and new members to attend. Without active involvement by our our county residents, we run risk of losing the ability to serve you and your neighborhood watch programs.

A few other items we will address this year include a presentation to the Levy Court Commissioners, reviewing and updating our bylaws, and finding pertinent speakers and content for our meetings.

So, as you can see…it will be busy! We respectfully ask you to step up and help be actively involved, not only in your respective neighborhood watch program, but also in the Kent County Crime Watch of Delaware.

We hope to see you all in 2024.
